Kelly has gotten herself cancelled.
Kelly Stevens had written a memoir exaggerating her childhood and her mother. She even appeared on the Dr. Phil show for it only to be told off by Dr. Phil and was offered help from him but it was to over come her feelings for her mother. Disowned by her family, she attempts to overdose on drugs to end her life only to survive but things are even worse. She has lost her memory and doesn’t remember coming to London to see her sister and she can’t find her wallet and passport so she is stuck in London. Everyone in her family and on her brother in law’s side of the family all ignore her and won’t knowledge her existence and even strangers seem to recognize her because her story had gone viral and they even ignore her too. Kelly is fed up with the treatment and only one who ever notices her and pays attention to her is her sister, Natalie, but even her son ignores her and gives her strange looks and baby Anita cries whenever she goes near her. Can Kelly make amends and earn everyone’s forgiveness and finally be able to get back home to her own country?
Chapter 1
“What you did was very despicable, very wrong, but you are not a bad person here,” Dr. Phil said to Kelly Stevens gently.
Kelly sat on the stage with her brother Brian and her Grandma Del and her youngest brother Matthew. Her sister Natalie had appeared on the camera on screen since she was not able to fly to LA to be on the show. Dr. Phil had also interviewed her and Natalie denied everything that had happened in the memoir.
Kelly had felt so betrayed and heart broken. Why was everyone denying how she felt? Why couldn’t they see she was hurting?
Even the audience had booed.
Of course everyone was booing and having empathy for her mother, Anita Evans had autism so she couldn’t express her love the same way as any other mother could. Kelly had always felt humiliated by her and had always resented her and she blamed everything on her, everything that had went wrong in her childhood. She figured if she had written a book and made her be worse than she really is and make things up, everyone would be on her side. But it had all backfired. Now she was being portrayed as a bigot and an ableist and it was being treated as a hate crime. How could so many people have sympathy for her mother?
Even Jack Trimaco talked about autism who had specialized in it and even Robin McGraw shared a support page for autism awareness and had information about it in case anyone watching the TV show and anyone in the audience wanted to understand it more and support someone they know with it. Kelly had never felt so humiliated before.
“Kelly, I have a gift for you, I can offer you therapy for a year,” said Dr. Phil. “Will you accept it?”
Kelly nodded, this was her other chance, maybe the therapist will understand her.
The audience clapped and cheered.
“I am also giving everyone else a gift too and everyone will go home with a copy of “The Autism Code” written by Jack Trimaco, former FBI agent,” Dr. Phil announced.
Kelly cried while Dr. Phil did his closing on his show and audience kept on clapping.
Later, Kelly was on the backstage crying. Grandma Del expressed her disappointment for her again before leaving the set.
“I no longer have a granddaughter, I have one less,” she said. “I hope you feel ashamed what you did to your mother, even worse the fact you waited until after her death to publish it.”
Kelly didn’t say anything. She also saw Brian in the door way and he looked very disappointed in her too.
“I am sorry you feel this way about our mother, I wish you will on the treatment you will get from Dr. Phil,” he said.
Matthew never appeared, he was already gone and had probably went back to his hotel room.
Kelly was also given a copy of the book as Dr. Phil promised and she just kept it at the bottom of her bag. She was still given therapy as promise and she saw her therapist. But after two sessions, Kelly was feeling disappointed. The therapist wasn’t on her side, she was trying to get her to understand her mother more and see things differently. The therapist was attempting to fix her as a neurotypical.
Wait a minute, this was like getting treatment to her being a neurotypical, her feelings were being treated like they were wrong, her thoughts were being treated as wrong. This felt like a nightmare, more like a bad dream to her. What was going on? Everyone was leaning to the left and become lefist, autistic people had finally taken over and now everyone had bought into their delusions that they were normal people and didn’t need to change and everyone had to accept them and understand them. Things had gone too politically correct to a point people were being treated like they were wrong and delusional for being human. It was bad enough all her relatives had defriended her on Facebook and blocked her, she had been cancelled. Brian was still around but he was taking no knowledge of her existence on Facebook and even her father had been ignoring her online. Her ex husband Brad wasn’t talking to her either and he said he was embarrassed for even being her ex. At least her kids were still talking to her but they were ten, seven, and three, two girls and a boy, the youngest was a boy. Maybe someday they will get brainwashed too and also quit talking to her.
Natalie was nowhere to be seen because she lived all the way in London with her husband and their dad and her two surviving kids and a step son and one surviving half-brother they had there. Kelly had blocked her on Facebook back in 2017 when they had a disagreement about their mother. Natalie felt Kelly should be sad about their mother dying of cancer and should go see her before she passes away or she might regret it. Kelly’s retort to that was “fuck her” and Natalie said in anger they should find a cure to ignorance and in anger, Kelly had blocked her. That was the last time they had ever spoken.
Kelly did go to their mom’s funeral when she did, she saw Natalie again but they didn’t speak. She saw Tristian, her one year old son. Kelly regret ever going to the funeral because everyone said good things about Anita and Kelly had nothing good to say. She was too busy being bitter about the mom she never had and she tossed out the memory book of her she was given and didn’t want her mom’s ashes either. Kelly went home depressed. She thought she would feel better and find closure but she did not, instead she felt even worse. As a result, she had started to write, first she wrote out her feelings, then she decided to write other things that never happened but maybe add a twist to it, she just kept writing and writing. Then the whole book had become fiction. Then she had decided to publish the book. Once and for all, everyone had sympathy and her book was being mentioned in autism partners groups for spouses who were suffering with their suspected autistic partners and the lack of empathy. But then her youngest brother Matthew saw the book and told everyone in their family about it, even Natalie had gotten the hang of the book, now everyone was mad at her and then she was on the show. Grandma Del had written in and they got on the show. Kelly thought Dr. Phil would understand her but even he had gotten brainwashed with the autism culture. Now things were even worse, she had lost her job and she was now at the verge of being evicted from her apartment.
She had gotten some sleeping pills, she couldn’t do this any longer. The whole world had turned against her and even her therapist was against her. Life had gone too PC and too leftist and too split. No one could have an opinion anymore without losing their job or being called a bigot and being cancelled. Kelly had seen all the hurtful comments online about her. This was too much.
She took her first dose and then another and another.
Almost a whole bottle later, she felt very dizzy and like she was going to pass out. She fell down on her bedroom floor and closed her eyes and felt herself fading in the air. Yes, she was leaving the world behind, yes….yes. Then she didn’t remember anything after that.
